The following is a quote from the book My Philosophy of Successful Living written by Jim Rohn: “Only by giving you are able to receive more than you already have.” This quote may have been paraphrasing what Jesus said about giving. “Give, and you will receive.” Luke 6:38a (NLT)
The practice of giving known as sowing seed in Christianity is not a habit that is easy. Yes, I said habit. Most people are not habitual givers, they are what I call occasional givers. They give occasionally when there is a disaster or when they feel guilty. However, if you have a conversation with any successful person, you will learn that they are habitual givers, and their habit of giving played an important role in the achievement of their successes. They discovered the power of giving.
Over the years, I have learned how to sow financial seeds habitually. I have also experienced that every major victory and blessing in my life started with the sowing of a significant seed.
There are several things in this text I want you to notice about giving. The first lesson about the power of giving is “Give, and you will receive.” This is the principle Jesus is teaching: to receive you must first learn how to give. Every Scripture in the Bible dealing with receiving from God starts with the individual giving something to God first.
When the praises go up the blessings comes down; when you give your heart to God, He gives you eternal life. To activate God’s blessing in your life you must “Give, and you will receive.”
That’s the principle behind the power of giving!
