Resurrection

“But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” (Acts 2:24)

Once a year, the Christian community celebrates the Easter season. It is the single most important observation for believers because without the Resurrection of Jesus from the grave, our faith would be in vain. Normally we celebrate during the month of March or early April the start of spring, which marks the end of winter. Spring is the time of year when things come to life and it’s my favorite season. Trees that were dormant during the winter begin to show signs of life and vitality. Life is renewed. Spring always reminds me of God’s renewal in my life.

On the day of Pentecost, Peter being full of the Holy Spirit declared, “This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses” (Acts 2:32). Without the Resurrection our faith is of no effect, our confession is worthless and we have no hope of experiencing eternal life. We are men most miserable and all that Jesus said and did was in vain. But because God raised Jesus from the grave, and after the resurrection He exalted Jesus: “For this reason, God highly exalted Him,” (Phi. 2:9), and gave Him the position of honor:

“Which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,” (Eph. 1:20)

He also gave Him a name that is above all names: “And bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,” (Phi. 2:9).

Beloved, we have the blessed assurance that one day we will also experience the resurrection. The Resurrection gives us hope, and it validates all that Jesus said and taught His disciples. He said:

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he will do; because I go to the Father” (John 14:12)

Because of the Resurrection, every believer has the power to declare and call those things that are not as though they are. We have the ability to walk in victory because we are more than conquerors. We are the head and not the tail. We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We can do all things because of the Resurrection. Death has no more power over us.

So when we celebrate Easter, let us remember what was accomplished through His death on the cross and His Resurrection. The Resurrection gives us power to live and to live a victorious life. Adversity and hard times have a way of killing the promises and dreams we started out with. Many have given up hope and allowed them to die. But I want you to know, it’s resurrection time.

I declare that every promise and word spoken over your life will be resurrected by the power of Jesus Christ.
