From Bishop Jemmott’s Word’s of Encouragement article entitled “New Thoughts New Attitudes”:
Before we came to Christ, our thoughts and attitudes were not godly. We were led by our carnal desires and did what felt good to our senses. But now that we are in Christ, we must allow the Holy Spirit to shape our thoughts and attitudes. The Apostle Paul instructs the Ephesian believers on how they should live after conversion. “Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God – truly righteous and holy.” Ephesians 4:23-24 (NLT)
Did you see it? Paul is telling the believer to “Put on your new nature, created to be like God.” How is this possible? The Holy Spirit will renew our thoughts and attitudes. We have to make a choice between continuing to be led by our old carnal thoughts and attitudes, which was the way we lived prior to becoming born again. Or allow the Holy Spirit to “renew” us. When our thoughts and attitudes are renewed, we change. We no longer think the same way; we receive a new thought pattern and a godly attitude. Only then can we be like Christ, righteous and set apart for God’s purpose.
Only then will you become like God!
Be Blessed,
Bishop Jemmott
