What to Do When You Fail

From Bishop Jemmott’s Words of Encouragement article entitled “Feeling Like a Failure”:

Life can drain the happiness right out of you. It seems that there are disasters striking you left and right. Is it any wonder you might begin to think of yourself as a failure? You are criticized by your boss. No matter how many hours you work, you can’t get everything done on time. Your husband or wife who once made you smile now only seems to complain at you. You get no help from your family; they only make things worse by adding to your feelings of failure. Even internet post and strangers can add to that feeling of being a failure.

As a believer, you need to turn that feeling of being a failure into praise. You need to understand that in God’s economy failure can be turned into an asset; yes, I said asset. Motivational speaker Norman Vincent Peale said: “Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.”

Yes, turning a failure into an asset is all in your attitude. David had the right attitude about failure. He believed that he could not fail, as long as God was holding his hands. Read what he says: If he stumbles, he’s not down for long; God has a grip on his hand.” Psalm 37:24 (MSG)

To stumble is to fail, but as David said, we will not remain failures because God has a grip on us.

How is your attitude toward your failure?

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
