From Bishop Jemmott’s Shepherd  to Shepherd article entitled “Humility Before Glory”:

By nature, you and I have difficulty being humble. We have difficulty being meek. We are not designed that way. We all want to stand on our own two feet and have our moment in the sun. Come on, be honest with yourself and admit that you are not humble.

Nothing goes against the grain of human nature quite so much as being called to humility and putting others first. 

We live in a society where we are constantly reminded or encouraged to “Have it your Way” or “look out for yourself,” and to “be number one.” I read somewhere that winning is not everything; it is the only thing. This is the way of the world; we are in the world but not of the world.

Proverbs 15:33 MSG says:

“Fear-of-GOD is a school in skilled living–first you learn humility, then you experience glory.”

The supreme example of humility is Jesus. Paul said, “He emptied Himself to become like us.” As pastors and leaders in the Lord’s house, we must learn to be humble. Then, and only then, will the glory come. Humility before Glory!
