Is Your Life a Sermon?

Is Your Life a Sermon?

March 8, 2016

From Bishop Jemmott’s book Words of Encouragement: Book One

Have you ever heard a sermon that left you confused? You walked out of church wondering what the sermon was all about, or the topic and text were not in agreement. To many unbelievers your life is a sermon; they are not reading the Bible, they are reading your life. It’s not fair, but that’s the way things are. As a believer, your habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, and economic standards should reflect Christ.

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (NASB)

What message does your life reflect? Martin Luther said that prayer, meditation, and temptation make the preacher. Prayer and meditation will give you a sermon, but only temptation – the daily experience of life – can transform that sermon into a message. Are your daily life experiences transforming your life into a sermon that will lead others to Christ or turn them away from Christ?

The difference between the recipe and the meal is the process of turning the recipe into a meal. Is your life a meal others can enjoy?

Is your life sermon reflective of Christ?

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
