Sitting on the Bench

Sitting on the Bench

From Bishop Jemmott’s book Words of Encouragement: Book One

When God is going to use you to bring glory to his kingdom, you must be prepared to be the one whose failures and shortcomings are made public. Take Peter for example, he was the only disciple who came to the defense of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and the only one who was willing and ready to fight for Him. “And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.” Matthew 26:51 (NASB) However, he was not the only disciple who abandoned Jesus in the garden that night. “‘But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets.’ Then all the disciples left Him and fled.” Matthew 26:56 (NASB)

He was the only one who the devil demanded permission to test. “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat.” Luke 22:31 (NASB) Simon Peter was also the only one who publicly denied the Lord on that horrible night. “Then he began to curse and swear, ‘I do not know the man!’ And immediately a rooster crowed.” Matthew 26:74 (NASB)

When you are highly anointed, you can’t wait on a bench expecting things to happen! “Meanwhile, Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came over and said to him, ‘You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean.’” Matthew 26:69 (NLT) Your anointing will not allow you to sit and do nothing! It will push you into your destiny, even if you have to walk the road called failure to get there.

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
