From Bishop Jemmott’s book Words of Encouragement: Book One
Sometimes life can beat you down to the point where you don’t have much endurance. If you are still discouraged after reading the previous series on “Why We Need the Bible”, listen to this verse in Romans 15:5. “Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.” (NASB) God wants to give you both perseverance and encouragement. If I believe His Word and live my life in His Word, I will be able to persevere through the hard times; when I am discouraged His Words will encourage me.
Right now some of you are thinking and saying, “You don’t have any idea of the odds that are against me where I go to school, where I work, or in my particular profession. I am surrounded by opponents and you can’t believe the odds that are against me!” I hear you, but my answer is still the same. Stay focused on the Word of God.
“My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me.” Psalm 31:15-16 (NLT)
If you stay focused on the Word of God, you will not have time to be discouraged!
Be Blessed,
Bishop Jemmott
