A mature believer is someone who is an example; someone who influences others in positive ways according to biblical standards! Modeling Christian virtues, virtues of true spirituality, is crucial to effective ministry in the world. Without biblical and godly examples, we are cast into a restless sea that can only toss up refuse and mud.

      As believers, we are to be examples to the world. Let’s look at what the Apostle Peter had to say about being examples. “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)

      According to the text, we are first chosen by God. Then we are royal priests. Then because we are chosen by God and made royal priest, we become a holy nation. After becoming a holy nation, we belong to God. Finally, we are examples to those who are still in darkness. We are the light of the world; let that light shine so that those in darkness may see Him, the light of the world. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NASB)
