We All Make Mistakes

We All Make Mistakes

November 15, 2015

I grew up listening to all kinds of music – salsa, ballads, classical, jazz and country – but my favorite joint was soul music or what is known as Motown. One of my all-time favorite songs was “Ooh Baby Baby” sung by one of my favorite singers, Smokey Robinson featuring The Temptations. The second verse of the song goes like this: “Mistakes I know I’ve made a few, but I’m only human; you’ve made mistakes too.” Yes, Smokey was right; we all make mistakes because we are human.

The Apostle James said, “Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.” James 3:2 (NLT)

According to James, if we can learn how to control our tongue, then we can control our behavior. Not only control our behavior, but be perfect in our behavior towards others. But who can control their tongue? It is the one organ in our body that we cannot control, and that is the reason we all make mistakes. We all say things we later regret saying, that’s why we need to thank God for Grace. Because of His Grace, we can make mistakes, and still become who He has destined us to be!

Here is some sound advice: learn from your mistakes and become a better person!

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
