Going Through the Fire

Going Through the Fire

October 25, 2015

As new believers, we are not prepared for the trials, testing, and tribulations that we will experience along the way to becoming mature in Christ. However, the one thing I learned as I grew in Christ was that these experiences were meant to mature me. I had to learn how to go through each trial, testing and tribulation. Allow me to share three lessons I learned from the Prophet Isaiah about going through adversity.

The first lesson, when you go through deep waters, God is with you. The second lesson, when you are caught in the current of adversity, it will not overwhelm you. The third and final lesson, “walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2c (NLT)

The first two lessons’ common denominator was water, now Isaiah introduces another element, fire. Notice the text says when you walk through, not if. This means that we will experience trials and tribulation, but God is giving us the assurance that the fire of oppression will not burn or consume us. So, if you are currently experiencing oppression, rest. Whatever you are going through now will not destroy or consume you. Get ready; you are coming out!

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
