Involvement Part 2

Involvement Part 2

October 22, 2015

Getting involved is not easy for some people, they are guarded because of past hurt or they just want to be left alone, but as believer we don’t have that option. Many believers faithfully attend church every Sunday morning, but as soon as the service ends they fly through the door without saying hello or fellowshipping with other believers. They are not involved; they don’t participate, they don’t relate closely or connect to others. This lack of involvement is not biblical. The Word of God gives us two reasons why we should get involved.

The first reason, God commands it. The second reason, the body needs it. “But now there are many members, but one body.” 1 Corinthians 12:20 (NASB) In this chapter, the Apostle Paul compares the church to the human body, and he demonstrates how every part of the body is essential, even the parts we can’t see. He also points out three ingredients for meaningful involvement:

  • Spontaneity (v.25) – Our involvement should be without effort or force.
  • Accountability (v.27) – We should be honest and sincere with our involvement not pretentious. And finally
  • Vulnerability (v.26) – showing when we hurt, and not pretending to be in control all the time.

It’s time to get involved; the body needs it!

Be Blessed,
