Finish the Race

Finish the Race

October 12, 2015

B.C Forbes the founder of Forbes Magazine said, “How you start is important, but it is how you finish that counts. In the race for success, speed is less important than stamina. The sticker outlasts the sprinter.” Mr. Forbes is on point. In life, you need to finish what you have started. As believers, we need to finish the race that is called the Christian life. As the Apostle Paul said, this race is not for those who are quick, but for those who are steady.

There is no greater feeling than finishing a project you’ve started. I can remember when I finished my first book. What a moment of accomplishment; it gave me a sense of completion. Because I finished the first one, I have released others, and I continue to write. In 2 Timothy 4:7b (NLT), Paul declares the following: “I have finished the race…”

The Greek word for “finished” means to bring to an end, to complete, to fulfill. Paul is telling Timothy, “I have completed the work I received that day on the road to Damascus, now it’s your turn to work until you complete your work.”

Are you still running? Did you stop running for Christ because of adversity? I urge you, get back in the race; start walking, build your strength. Once your strength is back, start running. And this time, finish your assignment.

Remember, the sticker outlasts the sprinter!

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
