As Apostle Paul said farewell to the saints at Corinth, he closed his final letter to them with these words of encouragement. “Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 (NLT)
Paul lists four admonitions that are needed so that the love and peace of God would be manifested in the life of the Corinthian believers and all who read the epistle. The first admonition is that the believer should live a joyful life. The second admonition was that they should grow to maturity. When a mother gives birth to a child, that child is expected to grow and mature.
Believers are expected to grow and mature. The author of the Book of Hebrews says the following: “So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding…” Hebrews 6:1 (NLT)
Your goal as a believer is to mature. And the sure way to mature is to read and study the Word of God. It’s time to put away childish behavior and grow and become mature. Then you will experience the love and peace of God.
Favor is Better!
