Brand-New

Brand-New

August 17, 2015

The word “new” as used by the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:17 is taken from the Greek word “kainos“. It refers to that which is unaccustomed, unused, or new in form or quality, something of a different nature from that which existed previously. In other words, it denotes something completely brand-new! Thayer’s Greek Lexicon adds that “kainos” means “recently made, fresh, unused, unworn; new, the new is better than the old; of a new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of.”

So when Paul says, “Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (MSG)

I love the way the Message version puts it: “anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start.” That means you. The minute you connect to Jesus Christ, you get a fresh start in life. Your old life ends and you begin a new life. You are new, fresh, uncommon, recently made, unused and much more.

If someone brings up your past, and they will, just show them this verse and let them know that you are a brand-new person in Christ.

Lay your old life down and receive a fresh new life by saying yes to Jesus!

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
