Take Back Season (Part 2)

Activating Your Take Back Season

The text in Exodus 12:35-36 gives three steps we must do in order to activate our take back season: Being obedient; Making your request and receiving the favor of God.

STEP ONE – Obeying the Word of the Man of God

“Now the sons of Israel had done according to the word of Moses” v.35a What activates the blessings in your life is obedience. When the Word of God is preached, receive it, act on it and allow the Word to come alive in your life. Obedience is required to activate your take back season.

STEP TWO – Making Your Request

“…for they had requested from the Egyptians articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing.” v.35b

In this take back season, it’s important that you make your request. “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Mat. 21:22) The world is waiting for you to make your request. So be bold and courageous. Ask for that increase. Ask for that promotion. Ask the bank to refinance your mortgage. Ask the Lord for the impossible! To request means to express a desire for, especially politely; ask for or demand.1 It’s time to demand your blessing.

STEP THREE – Favor

“And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request.” v.36

Favor can be defined as excessive kindness, unfair partiality, or preferential treatment. In your “take back” season, people will be excessively kind to you; providing you with preferential treatment. The Hebrew word favor2 means grace or charm. Favor will follow you like a cloud, but you must put yourself in position to receive favor. Position is key! Put yourself in the place where people with influence and power can see you!

The Results

The text ends with the following: “Thus they plundered the Egyptians.” v.36 Notice that it says, “they plundered”. The Hebrew word for plundered means to snatch away. Snatch back what is yours; your marriage, family, finances, peace and health. Whatever it is you need to snatch back, do it now. Finally, I like the way the Message Bible translates verse 36: “They picked those Egyptians clean.” It’s time to pick your enemy clean!
