Is God First?

From Bishop Jemmott’s book, Words of Encouragement: Book Two

Author John F. MacArthur, Jr. wrote the following in his book The Power of Integrity:

It was said of the popular nineteenth-century English author William Arnot, ‘His preaching is good. His writing is better. His living is best of all.’ All of us should desire that people would see our living as ‘best of all.’ The point is not that our life will have perfect integrity and we will never waver in our commitment and obedience to God, but that the general direction of our daily living will be more and more toward the supreme standard of Jesus Christ. Our lives will not move in that direction until we place God first in our lives and begin to obey his priorities.

Placing God first must be a priority in our lives. Jesus said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34 (NASB)

These Scriptures assure us that as we make God a priority in our lives, He will take care of all things; He even promises to take care of our future! “So do not worry about tomorrow…”

Is God first in your life?

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
