Integrity

Chuck Swindoll was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Catalyst 2009 Conference. During his presentation, he shared ten things he learned about leadership over his fifty years as a leader in ministry. The eighth item on his list touched me to the core of my soul.

He said, “Integrity eclipses image. Today we highlight image, but it’s really what you’re doing behind the scenes.”

As pastors and leaders, we are so concerned about our image. We worry about what people see and forget the importance of integrity. Please, don’t misunderstand my concerns. Image is important, but we should not sacrifice our integrity for the sake of our image.

Integrity is adherence to moral and ethical principles; Integrity is soundness of moral character; Integrity is honesty.

 The Word of the Lord:

“Love and truth form a good leader; sound leadership is founded on loving integrity.” Proverbs 20:28 (MSG)

Like Job, let us maintain our integrity at any cost, even the cost of our image. Stay faithful, stay on course, don’t give up and guard your Integrity.

Be blessed!
