Turning Disability Into Ability

A disability is defined as that which disables such as an illness, injury or physical handicap. A disability is also a legal disqualification or incapacitation, a physical handicap, and finally something that is restricting, limiting, or to have a disadvantage.

Darell Hammond, the American philanthropist, founder and chief executive officer of the non-profit organization KaBOOM!, which helps communities build playgrounds for children said the following about disability:

“Growing up in a group home, and with an undiagnosed learning disability to boot, the odds of success were not on my side. But when I joined the high school football team, I learned the value of discipline, focus, persistence, and teamwork – all skills that have proven vital to my career as a C.E.O. and social entrepreneur.”

Mr. Hammond is a good example of someone turning a disability into ability.

In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 3, we have the story of the man with a withered hand. This man had a physical disability that prevented him from having a fruitful life. The Lord noticed him and instructed him to stretch out his disabled hand. As the man obeyed the Lord, his hand was restored and healed. If you are dealing with a disability, mental or physical, like the man in the Synagogue, it’s time to stretch your disability by faith and allow the Lord to turn it into ability. Come on, it’s time to stretch!

Don’t live another day with your disability. Turn it into ability by the power of the Lord!

Be Blessed,
