Anxiety

Anxiety is defined as a state of uneasiness or tension caused by apprehension of possible future misfortune, danger, or worry. As a Senior Pastor, I don’t need to remind you that we live with anxiety every day. We worry about meeting the needs of the people; we have concerns about the effectiveness of our preaching. We become anxious when the church does not grow, not to mention when the monthly bills exceed tithes and offering and let us not forget our personal issues that we struggle with on a daily basis.

Anxiety will cause you to lose focus on what God is doing. As stated in Proverbs 12:25 (AMP):

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad”

The Hebrew word for “weighs” means to bow down. When we are troubled by anxiety, it weighs us down to the point where we can’t function as God intended for us to function. Don’t allow anxiety to bow you down. Don’t lose focus! Words of encouragement make us glad.

Let me encourage you – stay the course; God will supply. If you turn back now you will miss the opportunity. What you think are obstacles now will turn into opportunities in the future if you look beyond the obstacles.

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
