Dealing with Fear

Facing uncertainty can be a fearful situation. Six months ago, I faced the uncertainty of not knowing how I was going to survive after losing my job of 21 years. For twenty-one years, I had a steady and well paying job.

For the first time in my life I began to experience a conflict between the feelings of fear and anxiety, these feelings almost took control of me. However, there was another part of me that refused to panic and give in to fear.

The Spirit of faith – faith says, “I will not allow fear to dictate how I respond to negative situations”. Faith says, “I will turn to God; I will remember what the Word of God says”. I will find the promise of God that meets my need; I will put my trust in the God of my salvation. That trust will bring me into a security, a peace, and a confidence that is much deeper than my fears.

Psalms 56:3-4 in the Message version says:
“When I get really afraid I come to you in trust. I’m proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do?”

When fear knocks at your heart’s door, answer the knock with praise. Praise will chase fear from the front door of your heart.
