John Baldoni, author and lecturer gave a very accurate definition of motivation in his book entitled, Great Motivation Secrets of Great Leaders. This is how he defines motivation:

“Motivation is an essential leadership behavior; it combines an ability to communicate with an ability to coach, supervise, delegate and reward. In other words, motivation is fundamental to organizational effectiveness and individual success and growth.”

As senior pastors and leaders we should motivate people to do the things they believe are impossible, encourage them to see the future and believe that it is greater than the past. The Bible says that good leaders know how to motivate people.

Proverbs 16:10 MSG

“A good leader motivates, doesn’t mislead, doesn’t exploit.”

Do your best to motivate and not mislead or exploit the people under your charge. Be a good coach!
