Life-changing speaker, bestselling author, and behavioral scientist, Steve Maraboli wrote the following in his bestselling book ― :
“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.”
As born–again believers, we struggle daily with two natures: the sinful carnal nature that was crucified on the cross of Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:20) and the new life nature we received when we were born again (2 Corinthians 5:17). While the old nature has been destroyed, we still walk in the flesh, which feeds the old nature. The Apostle Paul understood the struggle, for he writes: “I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.” Romans 7:14-25 (NLT)
Beloved, the struggle is real. I know from personal experience about struggles, but the one saving grace is the grace of God. My question to you is, who are you allowing to control you? Having a desire is not wrong. However, the mind continuously brings evil desires into our thoughts every day. For that reason, we must renew our mind and present our bodies on the altar of sacrifice every single day (Romans 12:1-2).
The nature that controls your mind will control your walk!
This is what Paul states about who you allow to control you: “So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 8:6 (NLT)
My dear sons and daughters, do not allow your carnal nature to control you; it leads to death. Instead, be controlled by the Holy Spirit who will regulate your mind. When your mind is regulated, your flesh is no longer in control.
Remember, your carnal nature has been crucified along with all of its lusts and desires. If the Holy Spirit controls you, you will experience abundant life and peace of mind.
