“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” So says A.W. Tozer in his classic book on the attributes of God, The Knowledge of the Holy. Tozer also said, “Man’s spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God. Worship is pure or base as the worshipper entertains high or low thoughts of God.”
All of God’s character is in His name. Moses asked the Lord to show him His glory, so He passed before him. The Lord said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” Exodus 33:19 (NASB) Not only did God show Himself to Moses, but He proclaimed His name. David said, “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:10 (NASB)
God is also ready to hear your prayer and to increase you; all you have to do is ask, and anyone coming through the blood of Christ is welcome to ask. What can you ask for? Anything! However, you must ask the right way.
Jesus said that He and the Father are one, and since the Godhead dwells in Jesus, His name is the one that gives us access. “So that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”Philippians 2:10 (NASB)
