Throw Off Your Old Ways

We were not born saved! We all lived a certain way before we became born again. And when we said yes to Jesus, our salvation was complete. But then there is the process of learning how to live godly lives. Notice I said process, because learning to live godly takes time. It does not happen overnight. As we grow in Christ, there are certain lifestyle practices that we should not engage in and these practices must come to an end.

The Apostle Paul wrote the following to the church at Ephesus: “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” Ephesians 4:21-22 (NLT)

Did you see what Paul said? He said throw away your old sinful nature. When you throw out the garbage, you don’t go back into the garbage and use what you have thrown out. If you do, you will stink up the place. It’s like clothes you no longer use. Rather than storing them in a box in the closet, throw them out. It makes no sense to keep them around.

Yes! Now that you are born again, it’s time to throw off your old ways and live a life worthy of Christ. No more excuses!
