Doing the right thing is not always the easiest thing to do. Sometimes it is painful and difficult, especially when doing it brings no profit or notoriety. Growing up, I constantly heard two things from people in authority over my life. The first thing was “always tell the truth, no matter the consequences.” The second, “always do the right thing, even if it cost you.” Easy to say, difficult to do, but it is possible.
During David’s lifetime, he was confronted by many enemies, but God gave him the power to destroy all of them. After the Lord destroyed David’s enemies, he wrote this song of praise: “The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence.” 2 Samuel 22:21 (NLT) Notice that David says that the Lord was going to reward him for doing the right thing.
When you do the right thing, you don’t have to worry about the outcome of your life. Never be afraid to do the right thing; God will reward you for doing what is right. If you lose anything, He will restore it back to you.
