Are You a Listener or a Doer?

Have you ever spent time with someone who talks a good game? However, when it’s time to put up, that person can’t deliver. Well, people who listen to good counsel and do nothing with it are the same way. As born again Christians, we are the same way; we hear the word of God and do nothing with it.

We have two kinds of believers in the Christian community. There are those who hear the Word of God and practice what it says, and those who hear the Word and do not practice what they hear. If you practice what you hear in God’s word, you will be blessed, and your life will be firmly planted. The Psalmist says, “He (You) will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalms 1:3 (NASB)

If you hear the Word and do nothing with what you hear, the Apostle James says that you are fooling yourself. “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James 1:22 (NLT)

The next time you hear the Word of God preached and you feel convicted about something in your life, make the necessary changes. Don’t continue living the same way. Become more than a listener and do what the Lord commands in His Word. You will be blessed!

Be Blessed,
