You Must Bring a Gift to the Lord

The Psalmist said that we must enter God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise. “Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Psalms 100:4 (NASB)

During the day of the law, every man came to the Lord with thanksgiving, praise and an offering. The financial seed was according to how they were able to give. “Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. On each of these occasions, all men must appear before the LORD your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the LORD without a gift for him. All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the LORD your God.” Deuteronomy 16:16-17 (NLT)

The Apostle Paul said that we should bring an offering to God, but this offering should be from the heart not out of compulsion. “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.'” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)

You should never go to your place of worship without bringing an offering for the Lord. Our offering should be one of thanksgiving, praise and money; never enter God’s presence with nothing. The next time you come to the house of worship, don’t forget to bring your offering of thanksgiving, praise and money to the Lord.
