Religious Performance

A performance generally comprises of an event in which a performer or group of performers behave in a particular way for another group of people, the audience. Usually the performers participate in rehearsals beforehand. Lots of people are giving the performance of their life; they are engaged in a religious performance. Paul instructs Timothy to be careful of these performers. “They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!” 2 Timothy 3:5 (NLT)

God is not looking for performers. He is looking for people who live clean lives before Him, those who do justice and love their neighbors. “Clean living before God and justice with our neighbors mean far more to God than religious performance.”Proverbs 21:3 (MSG)
