Assurance in Difficult Times

Assurance is a positive declaration intended to give confidence. The famous theologian and Anglican preacher John Wesley said the following: “I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation, and an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.”

The Apostle John writes the following about assurances Jesus gave to His disciples while he was praying for them. In His prayer, He lists three things His disciples would have to endure and the assurances that would keep them in the difficulty.

“I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” John 16:33 (MSG)

First, the adversity: “You will experience difficulties!” Experiencing difficulties are inevitable as a believer, but don’t worry; it’s part of God’s plan. Here is the assurance: “I’ve conquered the world.” Because He has conquered the world, your difficulties will not conquer you.

Are you currently experiencing difficulties? Praise God! If God allows a season of difficulties to enter into your life, He will also allow a season of blessings. Just hold on a little longer, help is on the way, and you will come out stronger.

Be Blessed,
