What Makes Christians Different?

From Bishop Jemmott’s Words of Encouragement article entitled “New Creation”:

Jesus said that there should be a difference between the world and the believer; we are in the world but not of the world. In other words, the believer does not act like the world; our morals and standards are different. Why are we different? Because we are a new creation in Christ Jesus! The Apostle Paul wrote the following in 2 Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (NASB)

Did you see what the Word says about you? You are “a new creature” or creation in Christ; your old life is gone and you are beginning a new life. You are delivered from your old nature. The old nature and its problems are gone. The person who practiced sexual immorality, suffered from a bad attitude, and who was insecure has died. You are now a new creation in Christ. And as a new creation, you cannot live the way you used to live prior to salvation.

So whenever someone brings up your past, and they will, remember to say, “That’s who I was, but now I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. As a new creation in Christ, I have access to the Father. This access makes me an overcomer, and I can do and overcome anything.”

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
