How to Handle Naysayers

From Bishop Jemmott’s Shepherd to Shepherd article for September 2011 entitled “Keep Your Mouths Shut!”:

Have you ever received clear instruction from God? You then followed the instructions only to be confronted by adversity, turmoil and hard times. I have learned how to deal with adversity, turmoil and hard times. Nevertheless, the one thing that hurts the most is when the people who you are working so hard to help deliver begin to question if you really heard from God. It is disturbing when people begin to question the need for change especially when God says it time for change. Moses encountered a similar situation as he led the people out from Egypt.

The Egyptian army was in pursuit and the people began to complain and to fear. Hear the instructions God gave Moses for the people; note God does not speak to the people he only spoke to Moses.

Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch GOD do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. GOD will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!” Exodus 14:13-14 MSG

The reason we may be encountering opposition is because God wants to show us that He is able to do the impossible. So, stand up and tell the unbelieving and complaining people to shut up and watch God do the impossible.

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
