Why Your Attitude is Everything

From Bishop Jemmott’s book, Words of Encouragement: Book One

“A bad attitude is like a flat tire. If you don’t change it, you’ll never go anywhere.” – Author Unknown

Attitude is a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically attitude reflected in a person’s behavior. I heard it said, “Attitude is everything!”

Having the right attitude during a crisis will determine how long you remain in crisis and whether you will experience failure or success. The symbol for the word crisis in Chinese is made up of two words: danger and opportunity. During a crisis, you can choose to complain or grumble about the crisis or use the crisis as a stepping stone to go to the next level. The Apostle Paul writes the following about Jesus in Philippians 2:5, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.” (NLT) Jesus did not allow His crisis of the cross to keep Him from His purpose, but He kept focused on His purpose.

Remember, your attitude towards God in crisis will determine His attitude toward you. Paul also said, “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NASB)

You’re not giving thanks for the crisis; you’re giving God thanks for controlling your life even in crisis.

Be Blessed,
Bishop Jemmott
