Assets in the Pew

Assets in the Pew

March 10, 2016

From Bishop Jemmott’s book Words of Encouragement: Book One

In financial accounting, an asset is an economic resource. It is anything tangible or intangible that is capable of being owned or controlled to produce value and that is held to have positive economic value. The non-financial definition: a useful or valuable thing, person, or quality. Every believer is an asset in the kingdom of God!

Charles Spurgeon in his book The Soul-Winner talks about Christians who sit in the pews and do nothing to help win others to Christ. He states the following, “I fear there are others whose hands are slack, who are satisfied to let me preach, but do not themselves preach; who take these seats, and occupy these pews, and hope the cause goes well, but that is all they do.”

Are you sitting on your asset in church? As I stated earlier, every believer is an asset in the kingdom, and one of your abilities is to share the kingdom message. If you are sitting on your asset, it’s time to get off your asset and participate. The first thing you can do is become a soul winner. Rise and fulfill Christ’s command:

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19 (NLT)

Get your asset off the pew and get involved!

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
