Practicing Hospitality

Practicing Hospitality

January 10, 2016

From Bishop Jemmott’s book Words of Encouragement: Book One

Have you ever visited a church, and no one welcomed you or said hello? From my experience, that’s one church you will not return to.

As I conclude this series on relationships between believers, the last principle Paul deals with is “practicing hospitality.” Romans 12:13 How is your relationship with other believers? Are you practicing hospitality? Does your hospitality measure up to the teachings of the Bible? If your hospitality does not measure up, you may need to do some repenting and start practicing hospitality.

Practicing hospitality means to pursue the love of strangers. We shouldn’t wait for emergencies such as natural disasters to help others, but we should look for everyday opportunities in which we can show hospitality to believers and others. You never know, the person you show hospitality may be a messenger from the Lord! “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2 (NASB)

Remember, hospitality should be practiced in the church and outside the church. In church, we show our love to one another; outside the church, we show the love of Jesus to the world. How is your hospitality?

Be Blessed,

Bishop Jemmott
