The Apostle Peter said that believers are chosen by God and that since we are chosen, we should govern our lives by the Word of God. “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT) When your life is governed by God, you should not live like those whose life is not governed by His Word.
Let’s go deeper. Peter reminds us that we are in Christ, not by our choice, but by His choice. He chose us before the foundation of the world. Yes, you did not choose God, God chose you. The word chosen is from the Greek word “eklektos” meaning select, chosen. It also implies that we are God’s favorite. Now, I love ice cream; there are a few flavors that I am not too fond of, but my favorite flavor is vanilla. That means that I will choose vanilla over every other flavor. God chose you because you are His favorite! What makes you God’s favorite? He knew in His infinite knowledge that you would receive His Word and become obedient to His will for your life.
Remember, you are chosen by God!
Be Blessed,
