Have you ever stumbled playing baseball or any other sport? I stumbled once rounding third base heading for home plate. As a result of my stumble, I was tagged out at home plate. Running this race called Christianity is like running the bases in baseball; if you stumble you may be out. The Apostle Peter says the following, “And, ‘He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.’ They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.” 1 Peter 2:8 (NLT)
If you call yourself a believer, and your life is not governed or ordered by the Word of God, then God will use His Word as a stumbling block in your life to get your attention. As in baseball, when you stumble running the bases, you may not be out, but the stumble will not allow you to advance to the next base.
Stumbling is not the problem; it’s an alert that your walk has been interrupted. However, what you do after the stumble is key. When the Word of God becomes a stumbling block in your life, it’s God trying to get your attention. He will not allow you to advance to the next level until you address the reason for the stumble. If you fail to address the reason for the stumble, you will be out of God’s will and plan for your life.
Yes! God has plans for his obedient sons and daughters.
Be Blessed,
Bishop Jemmott
